The Purpose of My Life: Now, Then, and in the Future by Doreen McKenzie

Price: £10.99

“Doreen is a woman of Jamaican heritage living in London. She started writing poetry after seeing the video showing the horrific death of George Floyd – hence the title of her book. Her poems tell stories which are lyrical, stimulating and haunting. They span a wide range of subjects which realistically explore the experiences of people’s past, their present, and also look at what the possibilities could be in the future.
Doreen was encouraged to publish her poetry by a number of friends and acquaintances. She would especially like to thank her brother in law Carlton, her friends Elaine and Jackie, as well as members of the Caribbean Social Forum (which is a social club for mainly people from the Caribbean, but a club which embraces the richness people from all cultures and ethnicity bring). Attendees of this club have read her poems and have given her positive feedback and encouragement.
A special thanks also to her daughter Medina and granddaughter Keira who gave her invaluable help with the technology”.
